KEEPING HER ALIVE/Sven Sonnenberg

My life changed with one devastating call from my wife, Elizabeth. She said, "I have stage 4 breast cancer and I have 4-6 weeks to live." I was stunned. How could this be? Just a few months earlier, her mammogram was clean. This was unacceptable to me. I DID NOT WANT TO STAND BY HELPLESSLY WAITING FOR MY WIFE TO DIE. So I decided to utilize my lifelong training in research and development to do anything and everything to prolong her life. And when I convinced her to become partners in her survival and working together, we added a few productive years to her life.

This book is the product of my research. It’s designed as a resource of breast cancer information and facts for the individual with a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, or friend living with advanced breast cancer. It is not only a breast cancer essay chronicling our experience with the medical industry. This is also  an exploration of what worked for Elizabethto prolong her life. And I"l show how you can utilize simple alternative breast cancer treatments to help your loved ones. Lastly, it’s a memoir of our loving marriage and the journey to America to make a new life. I have a master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

I worked in the Aviation Industry many years with some achievements and awards.

It is guessed generally, that Aeronautical Engineering is a demanding discipline, where research has to be thorough; lackadaisical approach to the job or lack of strict discipline and attention to detail may lead to catastrophic results.

I liked the book very much. It is a very personal history of a desperate battle against cancer. And it is romantic, tender and touching.

This is an original mixture of a personal story and the medical essay. At the same time, the book shows the shortcomings of the present routine of cancer care. It shows doctors in action, both the bad ones and the good ones. Being inside of the cancer care system, this book author reveals the typical shortcomings of existing medical system with its often stiff and erratic bureaucratic approaches. The story takes the reader through a three-year ordeal within the established medical system. What is really amazing that at the same time, it is a vivid story of a husband who actively questioned the doctors and did his own thorough research. And by doing this he was able to keep his wife alive much longer than it had been predicted by the official medicine.

The important feature of this book is showing by example how to deal with the present cancer care medical system.
